La Fondation Salvador Allende de Montréal a mandaté Geneviève Dorais, historienne et autrice qui a obtenu le prix CALACS du meilleur livre 2022, décerné par l’Association canadienne d’études latino-américaines et des Caraïbes, et Carolina Echeverria, directrice artistique et artiste visuel d’origine chilienne dont l'immigration est au cœur de la pratique artistique depuis 30 ans, pour la création d’un événement commémoratif qui dévoile les histoires d'immigration, honore et maintient vivante la figure de Salvador Allende à une époque où ses idées sont validées non seulement en raison de leur caractère progressiste, mais aussi de l'ardeur avec laquelle elles ont été combattues. Aussi, c'est avec une grande joie que nous présentons cet événement envisagé comme une inspiration pour se souvenir d'une époque où l'espoir était dans l'air du temps, tout comme l'engagement et les idéaux d’égalité.

The Salvador Allende Foundation of Montreal has commissioned Geneviève Dorais, historian and author who won the CALACS Award for Best Book 2022 from the Canadian Association for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and Carolina Echeverria, artistic director and visual artist of Chilean origin, whose artistic practice has focused on immigration for the past 30 years, for the creation of a commemorative event that unveils the stories of immigration, honors and keeps alive the figure of Salvador Allende in a time when his ideas are validated not only for their progressive nature, but also for the ardor with which they were fought. Therefore, it is with great joy that we present this event as an inspiration to remember a time when hope was in the air, as well as commitment and ideals of equality.
